contacts Delta Photo ClubThe Delta Photo Club (DPC) is a group of enthusiasts who enjoy photography and want to improve their photographic skills. The new digital era has made photography much more affordable and more fun. With some training and experience it is now possible for many to get high quality images, and effectively record events and trips in their lives for years of enjoyment. Attending DPC evenings is a great way to gain the valuable experience required. We meet every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm at McKee House in Ladner. At 8pm we stop for a 15 min coffee and cookie social break . Our year extends from early September to the end of May Dues are $40 per year and $20 for spouses. Activities include a Print Night every month where members bring in 2 or 3 16x20 matted photographs to share with others. Very often there is an outside judge that evaluates each image. We all learn from this while enjoying some spectacular photographs. Once a month we have digital projection night where members email in 2 or 3 images which are shown on the screen for discussion, enjoyment, and learning. (The club has a laptop and a digital projector) Included in this evening are film slides as well. About every 2 months we have a ProShow gold or travelogue night where members put together 40 or so digital images, add music, and show a 4 to 6 minute show. (Another great opportunity to show your work) Each month we try to have a workshop where one of our members or an outside expert gives a presentation on how to do a certain aspect of photography. Photoshop and portraiture are popular subjects. Every 2 or 3 months we try to schedule a supplier to speak and tell us about the latest equipment available on the market. Every month we as a club pick a number of our best images and enter competitions along with other clubs in the lower mainland. Some competitions are national. Our club is an active member of The Canadian Association for Photographic Art. (CAPA) Every month or so we go on a group field trip to photograph interesting subjects. Our main objective is to enjoy ourselves while doing something we find rewarding, challenging, and interesting. Call Chris Hopkins for more info. 604-943-3478
